Households’ Energy Choices in Rural Pakistan

In the wake of United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals—zero hunger and affordable modern/clean energy for all—many developing countries have taken serious steps in recent years to increase clean access rural population. The government Pakistan has similarly made numerous efforts promote use sources areas country. Therefore, this study examines households’ choices cooking lighting Pakistan. doing so, a comprehensive dataset is collected from three different districts between 2020 2021, multivariate probit (MVP) model Chi-square tests are employed. results indicate that age, education level, occupation household-head; household size income; distance market wood source; biogas system ownership significant factors affecting choices. MVP show an school-going children, credit facilities, gender (female) key positive factors, whereas nearest market/road, size, age negatively affect likelihood using lighting. While comparing propensity fuels across districts, infrastructural development literacy rate were found be crucial factors.
